My Mount Abu Trip

After a lot of planning and re planning our college trip got cancelled and at the end we friends, a group of 6 planned to go to Mt Abu. We planned trip of 3 days and 2 nights (includes travelling of 5 hrs one way), our parents were really surprised that what we people will b doing there for 3 long days as Mt Abu is a small place but we insisted and stayed there for 3 days and initially we too were in dilemma about the third day's plan but as the day arrived, it passed more pleasantly than the first two.

Mt Abu, the highest peak of Aravallis, the only mountain range in Rajasthan with elevation of 1220 meters is the only hill station of Rajasthan.

On the first day we went to Nakki lake. A myth on the name of this lake is that the lake was dig out by nails of labours at that time as nakh( to nakki )in hindi refers to nail but I think the lake must be a man made lake(i.e. the lake must be dig out without help of any machines but through human labour only). This lake is filled for all the 12 months of the year and usually it freezes out in winter season adding to the beauty of the Mt Abu. We enjoyed a lot while boating in the lake :-)
Near the lake there is a Toad Rock, its a hill near lake which is shaped like a huge toad on its top.it was windy there and got a nice view of the city from there.

Next day we started our day from Guru Shikhar, located at a distance of 20 km from lake Nakki. Its the highest peak on the mountain, at 1722 meters above sea level. In spite of scorching sunlight, it was quite windy at the top. We then moved towards Peace Park, its a kind of pathway passing through the garden made by Bramakumaris( a religious order). We were compelled to listen to their 15 min lecture and to walk through that pathway of around 500 m as we didn't found any way back to exit but to move forward :-P So, i would like to suggest others that if you don't have any interest in knowing anything about religious things then don't enter in that park.

Dilwara Temples- They are group of 5 ancient Jain temples made of marble stones built between 11th and 13th century. They are beautifully and minutely carved on its doorways, ceilings, pillars etc. Dilwara Temples are considered as pilgrimage of Jain people.

Then we moved towards Sunset Point, it was quite windy and cloudy there. But due to clouds we were not able to see the sunset. But it was pleasant there and it was worth visiting there. We also saw mountain range running in parallel to our mountain( the Arravali range itself) but the smaller hills of the range and it was quite a view but i was not able to capture that in my camera frame :(

On the third day we did not went to some particular place as one of our crew member got ill but we enjoyed even more by staying there only. Weather was very pleasant that day and wind and drizzle added to that :) There was a hill in front of our hotel and some spot was made just to chill out. We went there and had lot of fun.
The valley had numerous Kachnar trees which were laden with its orange flowers only but no leaves on those trees adding to the beauty of the valley. I guess March-April is the season for those flowers to blossom.

In all, it was a nice trip away from all the worries of the world especially the BE project one and I really felt as if i am on a break from everything for 3 days ,(the same was felt by one of the crew member also ;-) )
